Happy 2nd Birthday, Porter!

June 10, 2008. 12:54 p.m.
Happy Birthday, Porter Davis!

6 months old
One year old!
18 months old
Two years old!!!
Happy 2nd Birthday, Noonie!
How is it possible that two entire years have passed since this sweet boy joined our family? Undoubtedly, the best two years of our lives!
Porter is the brightest spot in our days. He has added so much joy to our family, and continues to do so on a moment-by-moment basis.
Here are a few of our favorite things about our little man:

-He loves to make people laugh.
-He is a great talker, and we are constantly surprised with the things he says!
-He loves his family.
-He remembers what kind of cars people drive, and points them out to us when we're out on the road. "That's like Aunt Shannie's car!"
-He sometimes asks for a time out if he's feeling overwhelmed.
-He LOVES to read books. He soaks up what is on the pages and can fill in words and answer questions about the stories like a pro.
-He is gentle, and very rarely gets aggressive, but he knows what he wants and is opinionated.
-He has perfected drinking out of a big boy cup. It still looks funny to me seeing such a little guy drink like a big guy.
-He is a peanut...23 lbs. 8 oz. and 33 1/2 inches tall. 25th percentile for height, 5th percentile for weight. He is still in 12 month clothes mostly, with some 18 months tossed in the mix.
-Speaking of peanuts...he is deathly allergic.
-He has good manners, which I think is handsome in a boy. He says "bless you, Mommy" when I sneeze, and mostly always remembers to say "please" and "thank you."
-He is a great cheerleader. He says "YAY, MOMMY!" When I finish a task like blow drying my hair or taking a shower. When my car goes from the dirt road onto the pavement, he yells "YAY, MOMMY'S CAR!" He is so encouraging!
-When I ask him if he wants a baby brother or sister, he says "No." and it makes me feel better about not being quite ready for another.
-He is learning to be reverent in church and we hardly ever have to take him out. He also loves nursery. (Which is good for me, since I just got asked to be the nursery leader!)
-He can count to ten with a tiny bit of help, and he can say his ABC'S.
-He loves his baby stroller, basketball hoop, T-Ball set, and anything Thomas the Train. He also loves to build towers and climb on anything.
-He is a Mommy's boy, but he sure loves his Daddy, too.
-When he's being stubborn, he'll get moving with a threat of taking away one of his naptime or bedtime books.
-He loves to be outside, and he'll keep his sunglasses and hat on while he plays.
-Milk is his favorite thing ever.
-His favorite thing at the park is the swings, although he conquered the big swirly slide this week and kept saying "I'm BRAVE!"
-He calls his favorite blankie "Mankie" (main-key) even though he can say "blankie" just fine...so sad will be the day when he says it correctly.
-He loves ice and will try to fish it out of anyone and everyone's glass. I make him "homemade" ice pops and he thinks he has won the lottery every day when he gets one. Or two. Or three.
-Sitting in the front seat of Daddy's car and pretending to drive is something he would rather do than anything else on the planet.
-When he goes to sleep, he has to have his mankie spread out over his pillow. If it's not just right he'll say "I want Mommy to fix it." He rarely says this anymore, though, because I've perfected just how he likes it.
-He loves to listen to music, especially in the car. He is always asking for "moomics" which I think is the greatest thing ever.
-
-He's really, really cute :)

Happy Birthday, sweet boy!!! Our lives would not be complete without you! Thank you for making us smile, and bringing us immeasurable happiness!
XOXOXOXO

best conversation ever

Before bed tonight, while rocking Porter in his chair...

Me - "I love you, Porter."

Porter - "I love you, Mommy."

"I love you, Porter."

"I love you, Mommy."

"I love you, Porter."

"I love you, Mommy...
I love you, Mommy...
I love you, Mommy...

I wanna lie down."
